Over the past several weeks, we have learned several multiplication strategies students can use to solve multi digit multiplication. Each of these are unique, but each allow students to solve large problems with ease. While students are expected to learn each of the strategies, it is important they they are fully capable to using the strategy they prefer and are able to use accurately. As with any tool, accuracy is key. They must know how to use the strategy well in order to obtain correct answers.
In class, I encourage students to check their work using an alternative strategy than the one they used first. The use of calculators can be helpful to check to over completed work, but please do not allow your child to use it as a crutch and encourage them to try other methods to solve the same problem.
To assist you in helping your child with multiplication at home, please take a look at the following tutorials.

Lattice & Traditional Multiplication
We will complete a study guide on Wednesday in class and then test over unit 5 on Friday. As always, we will use the assessment as a tool to see what concepts your child is understanding and help plan for future instruction.
Please let me know if you need further information!

Pastries with Parents
Good morning!
I wanted to remind everyone about our upcoming Pastries with Parents on Friday, February 1st. In addition to sharing breakfast with your child, Dr. Moss will be present to share about the upcoming bond for the district. The no tax increase bond will enable the district to make the needed additions to the high school to accommodate the district's growth. Please make plans to attend! In order to prepare enough pastries, please return the note to school or contact me through email. Thank you and I will look forward to seeing you there!
